HOW TO BUILD YOUR WEDDING DAY TIMELINE?

You start planning your wedding day. If you are not an event photographer or a wedding photographer this is the moment where my experience can help you.

A pre-wedding consult will help/force you to:

  1. Build a timeline for your day. You know all the details: location, when the guests are arriving, when the ceremony start, when the reception starts, when the food is served and more others important details.
  2. Decide together what types of photos/canvas/album you are expecting. This will help me to bring the timeline from a photographic point of view. Based on what final product you are expecting I will know what type of lights I need, how long will take for these photos or what locations to suggest.

Wedding photography: Group photos after ceremony

Just a small exercise: how long you think we will need for each group photo?

Finding and asking the guests to come for group photos, arrange them and having all smiling, no turned heads, happy faces, everybody with open eyes … 🙂  it is a challenge.I don’t know too many people feeling comfortable in front of camera excepting small girls and models. I am very optimistic so I will say that 2 minute per group should be enough.

If you plan on having 30 groups photos after ceremony calculating at 2 minute per photo we will need at least 60 minute after ceremony. If we not take in consideration this amount of time and you are not able to communicate properly with your wedding planner and everybody will be late at the reception. I am sure you don’t want to have your guest rushing to the reception venue just because you didn’t plan properly.

Wedding photography: group photos on location

How long travel time you need to add for this? How about big groups? How much time you think I will need to install/uninstall the lights?

I will have the time to take detail shot at the venue (before the guests are inside)?

These are just a small part of details what should be clear months before your special moment start. I don’t know about you but I am a HUGE fan of “STRUCTURE AND DISCIPLINE” motto.
